Encryption and certificates are useless if passwords are easy to guess:
- Avoid words from the dictionary or directly related to you: password,
panoply, IvanVilata78, NameOfMyDog05.
- Replace characters with numbers: p4n0ply, 9ano9ly, g4r4m0nd.
- Intersperse numbers, symbols and caps between words: 2pa0no0ply5,
4-ca RRE four-6.
- Follow a twisty path in your keyboard: 123edcxz, 9ijn vfr4,
0okm n b vfr4.
- Take the initials from a phrase: «Buddy you're a boy, make a big noise
playing in the street.», 8y48 m48n p1t5.
Even if they are difficult to guess, passwords must be kept safe:
- Avoid typing your passwords in front of other people.
- Avoid writing down you paswords in a piece of paper.
- Avoid using the same or closely related passwords for different services.
- If you need to store passwords, encrypt them: Revelation, KDE Wallet
Manager, ZSafe.
